Board Meeting
January 22, 2009
Welcome and Introductions
Meeting called to order at 6:47 by Joey Friesen
Minutes from the last meeting stand as approved as read.
Principals Report: Mr. Hunter
• State of the Budget – Every district in the state is in deep trouble. They are expecting to have a $41.6 billion deficit this year. Governor has proposed to increase taxes and reduce programs, but this is not yet approved. Changes are for this school year and we still don’t have a current state budget. This year he is cutting $8 million and next year it will be $12.9 million. This is the best-case scenario. He is also proposing reducing the school year by 5 days, but that will not be considered until next year. Considerations have been given to funding and a proposal to remove restrictions is being considered.
• PTA – Thank you for starting up the school year with much need supplies. As of today we hope to make it through the end of the year with supplies.
Treasurer’s Report
• Shannon Colton presented treasurers report. All approved. Motion carried.
Shannon motions to ratify all checks. Second by Ann Marie Rees. Motion carried.
President Report:
• Kudos! Ann Marie – worked hard to update the Website and it looks great!
• Enrique’s Flatbed - he purchased a flatbed dolly from Mervyn’s and would like to be reimbursed. Shannon motions to pay Enrique $50.00. Second by Ann Marie Rees. Motion carried.
• Looking Forward:
• Jog-a-thon – February 6:
All the children will get a water bottle that was donated for the Jog-a-thon. New forms were sent out today.
• El Torito – February 23:
• Science on the Go – Great assembly!
• Variety Show – April 25, Saturday 6 – 8 PM at Glenview
• Knollwoods: April 22
• Carnival – May 15: Led by Adriana and we will all enjoy carnie food.
• Teacher Appreciation – May
New Business
• Nominating Committee: Easiest job in the whole world!. We need to meet discuss it and move on. It will take 3 minutes. Ann Marie, Charles Hunter, Kathy Hayne, Dena Jackson, Chris Harms – alternates, Laura Scott and Mirabel Ayala
Committee Reports
• Jog-a-thon – Shannon needs help starting 8:00 -11:30 AM
• Family Nights – We haven’t gotten a check from Chuck E. Cheese
• See’s Candy – Ann Maries will create a spreadsheet. We need to deliver the chocolate before spring break so the fundraiser will end in March.
