~ Principal's Message ~

I would like to welcome all of you to the 2009/10 school year. I hope you had a good start to the new school year.

The Glenview PTA has been working very hard over the past month and has planned an exciting menu of programs and activities for our students. Various programs and activities include monthly assemblies, family nights, student skate nights, field trips and our fall/spring book fair. The PTA also sponsors Red Ribbon Week, Jog-A-Thon and the Carnival. October PTA events include: Say No to Drugs Assemblies for K-6, the Fund Raiser Assembly and Fund Raiser and Red Ribbon Week activities.

In order for our PTA to provide the various programs and activities to our students they need your help. First, they need all of our Glenview Community to become a member of the PTA. Dues are $8.00 per member paid directly to the PTA. Second, they need all of our families to support the fund raising activities that are held throughout the school year. Lastly, the PTA needs volunteers for the various activities they sponsor. Parent volunteers are needed to head up committees as well as work on committees. If you would like to volunteer please contact the PTA at 714-986-7150 ext. 42324. Please remember that PTA activities don’t happen without your support and participation.

Back to School Night was held on Thursday, September 17. The evening started off with a PTA Association meeting. Thanks to all of you who attended. Following our PTA association meeting teachers met with parents to review expectations and classroom procedures. Attendance was excellent and our teachers appreciated all of you who were there.

California test results are in for the state testing that your child took last spring. Assessments included English Language Arts and Math for grades 2-6, Writing for Grade 4 and Science for Grade 5. You should have received assessment results in the mail. If you have not received your child’s assessment results or have a question regarding the results please schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher.

I would like to wish all of you a happy October and thank you for a great first month of school. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or the office a call. Have a good month!

Mr. Hunter
